Hilltown Progress

I went through and corrected things today. I fixed all the errors I found and a few a friend found in my printed proof copy that he read. So that's done.

I haven't changed it on Lulu yet, though. Going to hold off for a few days, probably over the weekend in fact. It's going to be a busy weekend. I also expect there might be a few more problems reported. But by next weekend I hope to have the text in final form. Or at least "abandoned" form.

As part of proofreading I had to read the whole thing myself, straight through. And I hate to say it, but.. you know, I've read worse books. :)

I personally have a different journey ahead of me. I've already proofread my book five times at least, and now I'm exploring alternate plotlines and endings (it's a pointless excersize, since I don't see publication in the future, but it's amusing). My book is a scifi novel.

My biggest problem is that every time my books got rejected, I went through them again. Sooner or later you have to just give up and call it done. If you don't, you'll never be able to go on to the next thing.

Of course, you're not under any obligation to go on to the next thing. Getting published, in the conventional manner, is a long shot. Making any significant money at it is even less likely. The one thing you should try to be sure of is enjoying what you're doing. And if you're writing for your own enjoyment, you can write whatever and however you want.

The guy who make Eragon was an indie publisher. I guess that tells you something.
