Ladies and gentlemen, I try to keep my angst at bay in this journal. I really do. It's not that I don't think you care when I'm down-- I'm sure some of you do, very much-- but I'm quite sure none of you give a hoot WHY.

However, let me say this:

Ignorant people should not be allowed to have opinions. We should have a constitutional amendment to set this as law. We should charter the United Mine Workers' goon squad to enforce it with rubber truncheons. This prohibition should apply in any of the sciences, or any case where the matter at dispute is one of provable fact. Ya want to have an opinion, DO THE WORK. You don't want to do the work, SHUT THE HELL UP.

This would not apply, of course, to politics, economics, or any of the social "sciences." In those, the opinions of the ignorant are about as effective as any others.

Can we tack on an amendment to this, buried within legalese somewhere in porkbarrel fashion, adding that rude people not be allowed in public? If one more cretin tried to cut in front of me in line for leaving two feet of personal space (if even that), I'm going ballistic.
