I was bugged, yesterday, because nobody visits me in my dreams any more. How can you learn from your totems, or even know who they are, if nobody ever drops by? So as I lay down to sleep I sent out a little suggestion that anybody who had anything to say to me was welcome to say it.

I dreamed I went to the back yard looking for something, but didn't find it. Then, at the back door, I looked up and realized a very dark and angry-looking white pine had grown in the marsh behind the house. It had grown thirty feet straight up, then bent over at right angles until it was right over the house, and my head, and then gone straight up again. The only reason it hadn't smashed the house was the other trees in the yard had interlaced their branches to hold it up.

"Hmm, that could be dangerous," I thought calmly. "I'm going to have to do something about that."

So.. just another weird dream. Or perhaps my totem animal is, in fact, a tree. Who doesn't like me. :)

Or the ten or twenty around the house who were protecting me?

I wonder what a tree would want to say to any of us? Oh well. Make of it what you will. I think it's interesting, and fun, in a slightly spooky way.

Wow, I wish I had dreams that made that much sense. I've never had guardians in my dreams. I'm jealous. ;P

Most of my dragon dreams make no sense to me, truthfully. Once, we walked along earthen dams - to either side of us were green shoots coming up out of about a foot of water. As I looked deeper into the water, I realized that there were humans asleep under the water. I remember asking my dragon about it, but the feelings projected were rather jumbled, and didn't make much sense.

I'm sure someone wiser than I could probably get something profound out of my dreams - but the most profound thing I ever get out of them is that they involve a gorgeous prism dragon.

Since the work you do is involved with keeping the air clean, perhaps the trees really are your totems. They are the most important beings on our planet for maintaining and producing that which we, as humans, need most - to breath.

I've often put my hands on the trunk of some really old tree, and thought their leaves rustling in the wind were singing to me.

That is really cool. :)
