I have patched Hilltown into one document. I'm now reading through it and editing a bit for clarity and continuity. That whole continuity thing is a problem for me, as I suppose it is for everyone who writes intuitively rather than planning and outlining.

I'm through Chapter 13 of the 16 total.

Susan Van Camp is making noises like she'd be willing to do the covers for all five Flanker books. It's going to cost. The chief delay here is how fast I'll be able to pay for it all. But it's looking like an 18 month schedule for five books, which is pretty quick.

I'm going to try to do the cover of Hilltown myself. You'll be able to see my leet skills with watercolors. Gah. Probably take me twelve tries to get something half right.

I'm still hoping Hilltown will get out first, before even Flanker 1. Since it's a simpler production, I should be able to put it together fairly quickly.

[livejournal.com profile] tephra_adularia is doing the web design. The chief problem is forums. Since my only hope for success in all of this is to build a sort of community, forums are key.

I've changed my mind about Hilltown a bit. It's nothing to be ashamed of, so I will deign to make a bit of money on it if anyone wants to buy it. However, I'm still planning on having complete downloads free on my website, as well as the individual chapters. If you want to pay me for it, you'd have to buy the paper version from lulu.com, once I have that in place. So the question is-- if I deign to make a profit on it, what do you think is a fair one?

I'm still planning on having lulu.com sell both paper copies and full downloads for the Flanker books. I'd have the individual chapters available free on my own site, so nobody would HAVE to pay to read the stories. (I'm also hoping that since I make it so pathetically easy to put together your own full free download from the free chapters, nobody will bother. I'm only planning on charging $4 for the full downloads on Lulu, of which I would get $3.20.)

Don't know how reasonable a plan this is. I'd appreciate anybody's comments and ideas on this, too.
