Unless it turns out to already exist out there somewhere, call this one Cafe' Bill, or maybe just The Safety Drink. As in the complaint comes in on a Saturday, some fellow griping about a neighbor's burn barrel (which we don't cover anyway), and I'm safe because I can honestly tell the operator "Sorry, I'm not allowed to go out on this one, my blood alcohol's above 0.02%."

12 ounce coffee mug. Fill about halfway with hot black coffee. Fill the rest of the cup 1/3 each with 101 proof Wild Turkey Bourbon, Kaluha, and Irish Cream Liqueur.

Teph sniffed, tasted it, and said "Yeah, you're not driving ANYWHERE after this one."

Cheers!

I suspect you'd need a whole lot less then that to be above .02%; that's an AWFULLY low figure.

I wonder if cough medicine would push you up to that point?

0.02 is the lowest a Breathalyzer can detect, as I understand it. It was set that way under Pork Boy John Engler, a true swine of a man who was a politician feeding off the public trough every day of his adult life until he left the Governor's Office and moved into the office of President of the Manufacturer's Association. He based his entire career on bitching that State employees (or the ones who worked for their paychecks, unlike him, at least) were parasites who should all be fired or shot. He set the 0.02 limit as just another way of harassing us, at the same time he set a 0.02 blood alcohol limit for anyone accepting a welfare check.

For comparison, the State Police are allowed to drive patrol cars as long as their blood alcohol is below 0.08, and carry guns around on the job-- not driving-- if it's under 0.10.

In other words, he's still feeding at the trough. Just as a lobbyist now, not an elected official.

And if I recall, for comparison purposes a 16 oz beer puts a 175 lb man at .10. (the legal limit here in Florida is .08).
