Pondering

silber posted an old black and white commercial for a toy cannon. I seem to vaguely remember being horrified by this commercial back when I was eight or so-- it's black and white, so it would be about that age.

We only had black and white TV back then, although some other people around had color. I used to see the ads for color TVs on our black and white set and wonder if the ads were in color themselves. There was no way I could tell, of course.

Which brings up a more modern pondering. Are the ads for high-definition TVs in high definition? If so, for what purpose?
