OK, they have me pegged. I'll even raise a bottle of pop in a toast to ther pespec.. perspa.. oh hell, I don't know how to spell the word. I didn't pay THAT much attention in high school.
I would note, though, that whether it is "pop" or "soda" seems to depend on the container, or rather when I first encountered it. When I was little pop came in bottles, and it's still a bottle of pop. But, on the other hand, it's usually a can of soda.
Also, when I lived in the Chicago area (if you can call it living), NOBODY I knew called it "pop."
