Feb. 18th, 2006 10:08 pmWhat an annoying day!
Because of blizzard conditions and the Snowplow from Hell (which always comes by after I go to work, so even if I shoveled out the mailbox it would do no good) we haven't had mail in two days. I went out and did battle with the snowbanks so we could get the Saturday delivery-- but our letter carrier arbitrarily decided not to do her route. She does that fairly often. I know she never came, because there weren't any tracks out on the street.
Well, I can console myself with a cup of good coffee, right? But the spring valve on the bottom of the brew basket jammed closed. So the basket overflowed, running the coffee out onto the countertop and the grounds back down into the water reservoir.
And I was fighting a headache all day. And, alas, we still have three cats. So I have had more than my fill of annoyances today.
But I'm writing again. Put in about five handwritten pages on the next chapter of Hilltown. Ooh, for those two or three of you who saw my last attempt at a Big Kick Finish-- the characters are talking to me again, or perhaps I'm listening to them instead of trying to tell them what to do. In any case, we've actually got some ACTION happening, a conflict, a crisis, and a question on the nature of mercy as it applies to dealing with Dean Lansen, among other creatures. Just what would be merciful to do with him? Assuming, of course, it was in your power to do anything.
Things have me, at least, interested.
So.. OK, we'll get mail Tuesday unless she just decides not to do her job again. In the mean time, it's good.
